One seventeen-year-old Sikiru Okulaja, who allegedly stabbed a 38-year-old man to death, on Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Okulaja was brought on a count charge of murder but the court did not take his plea.
The prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the teenager stabbed Mr Mutiu Yekini with knife on April 22, at 7.00p.m, at Agura, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Uwadione said that the accused stabbed Yekini on the chest and he died as a result of the wound.
Murder contravenes Section 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes death sentence for the offence.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, ordered that Okulaja should be remanded at the Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun.
She ordered that the case file should be duplicated and forwarded to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
The chief magistrate adjourned the case until June 21 for mention.
