Nigerian troops have intercepted an alleged gang of armed robbers operating at Felele, along Lokoja – Okene highway. The suspects were allegedly in the act of wearing military camouflage and robbing unsuspecting commuters.
Three of the suspects, Saviour Denis, 39 years old; Isaac Donald, 35 years old; and Joseph Isah, 35 years old, were arrested while one Mr Atsen was killed during a shoot out with the troops.
Two female accomplices, Mrs Janet Isah and Oyinoye Ochefije, were also arrested during the encounter.
Items recovered from them include: one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 rifle magazine loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition, four pairs of military camouflage uniform, one pair of Nigeria Police pullover, three pairs of berets, one pair of black boot, two machetes, one plier, 22 cell phones, and cash sum of N16,980.
The military said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further necessary action.
