Ekiti Governor’s Aide to partner NGOs for Effective Grassroots Communications

 



The Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Community

Communications, Mrs Mary Oso Omotoso has solicited partnership with Non – Governmental Organizations whose primary objectives are relevant to governance and community development .

Mrs Omotoso who made the assertion while meeting the representatives of the NGOs in her office, Ado Ekiti, stressed the importance of NGOs’ support to having effective community engagement , social reorientation and sensitization of the people for better understanding of the policies, programmes and activities of government as well as providing opportunities for obtaining feedback from the people.

The Governor’s aide described NGOs as key stakeholders in the development of the state, adding that the need to take the task of providing timely and unbiased information on government’s activities to the people is a collective responsibility.

According to her, Community Communications Office is to serve as bridge between the people, particularly those at the grassroots, and the Government.

Outlining the areas of collaboration her office is seeking partnership from the NGOs ,the Governor’s Aide stressed that the Governor Oyebanji’s administration was committed to ensuring that no gap exist between government and the governed.

Responding , representatives of the NGOs , lauded the SSA for her efforts and passion at delivering on her primary assignment as well as deeming it fit to have invited them for such engagement , noting that her work plan is in line with their organizations outlined activities and programs.

The NGOs which attended the meeting include, Ekiti Women Arise(EWA), Centre of Social Reconditioning(CEFSORD), New Initiative for Social Development (NISD), MAI Initiative, Life and Peace Development Organization (LAPDO), Foundation for Sustainable Heath Promotion & Development (FOSHPAD), Centre for Better Health and Community Development(BHECOD), Triumphant Health & Development Initiative(THAD), Gold Heart Foundation(GHF), Gender Mobile Initiative (GMI), Bibi Grace Foundation(BGF), Inspiration Care Development Centre(ICDC), The New Generation Girls and Women Development (NIGAWD), Ray of Hope Foundation for Sustainable Development(ROFSHD), Society Development Foundation for Women(SODEF), Foundation for Justice and Social Development(FOJSOD), Foundation for Excellent Living and Development (FELAD), Justice and Peace Development Initiative(JDPI), International Federation of Women Lawyer(FIDA) and Kimpact Development Initiative.
